Need A Short Introduction to Business Blogging

I went to a networking function last night at a beautiful venue, the Emerald Lakes Golf Club. The event was sponsored by the Gold Coast (Australia) based National College of Business

The evening gathering was put on by indefatigable networking specialist Terri Cooper of Networking Works! Terri CooperThe event was very well organised, entertaining and there was a good buzz. There was plenty of food and access to the club bar if people wanted something more stimulating in the beverage department than water. There was an accessible display table with encouragement to attendees to place their flyers and cards there. I met several new people in a range of businesses and distributed some information about the 7 Step Business Blog book.

Although I seriously went there with the intention of finding out about other people's business and not talking so much about my own, I found there was a great deal of interest in the concept of blogging - seems it's more and more 'in the air' as a business topic - so I talked more than I'd intended about how blogging can help business.

This morning I received the first communication of the day from someone who had been at the function, and with whom I had discussed blogging. He wants to know 'where to next?' There's a simple response, which is 'buy my book', but as he knows about my book I figure he is not ready for that step yet.

I realise I could refer him to various sites such as Business Blog Consulting where he can read a lot about business blogging, and I may do that, but from my conversation with this chap I don't think that is going to be satisfactory, at least not on its own.

I think it's time for one of those 'white paper' type items to be on this site and other blogs of mine, for a free download. It would be a 'why have a business blog and where do I start'? type document.  So there's a project for me - but it is going to have to wait a few days to a week.
