Hi, I’m Des Walsh and I’m based on Australia’s sun-drenched Gold Coast, on the eastern side of the continent. This is the site I set up to promote my business owner’s get-started-with-blogging manual - 7 Step Business Blog.
I’m a coach - I help business owners and entrepreneurs take their business to the next level without getting burnt in the process.
I’m also an evangelist for blogging and other social media in business. And I’m a very experienced public speaker and group facilitator.
In a world where too many people feel a loss of control of their lives through globalisation and continual industry and company restructurings, I am especially passionate about sharing with others the possibilities technology provides for new, more balanced and fulfilling ways of working.
I’m no techie bedazzled by the newest technological device. I am a business owner always looking for smarter ways to do business.
This technology allows me to coach business owners by phone and online, across Australia and internationally, from my home five minutes from the beach!
Quite simply, blogging, podcasting and other social media, and the communities of interest they enable, have transformed my ability to do business globally. My aim each day is to do at least one thing to encourage others to see how these technologies can help them achieve their dreams.
As an example of how the new “social software” technology helps me work globally, I have now co-authored two audiobooks with my colleague Bill Vick, who lives in Dallas, Texas and whom I have never met face-to-face: LinkedIn for Recruiting is the definitive, evidence-based guide for recruiters using the online social networking tool, LinkedIn; the Big Biller Audiobook comprises ten hours of interviews, live and uncut, from the recruiting industry’s Big Billers, recruiters who bill a million dollars or more a year, cash in, and an e-book which provides a blueprint for success, with action steps, based on those interviews.

I’ve also written and self-published a manual on blogging for businesspeople, 7 Step Business Blog.
I am a guest blogger on Business Blog Consulting and founding Moderator of the Linkedin Bloggers Group. I am also a founding member and member of the Board of Governors of the International Association of Coaching and a foundation member of the Creative Skills Training Council - Asia Pacific and Australia.
